Rovema Also Will Showcase Advanced VFFS Machine Ideal for Frozen Food Applications

Rovema, a designer and provider of packaging machinery for the food industry, will showcase an integrated solution for the packaging of confectionery, pastries and cookies, and the innovative BVC 400 VFFS Bagging Machine ideal for frozen food applications, at FachPack 2015, September 29 to October 1 in Nuremberg.

A leading food industry machinery supplier, Rovema manufactures and supplies equipment for dosing, vertical form-fill-seal pouching, cartoning, and final packaging operations, primarily for the bakery, cereal, confectionery, coffee, dry powder, snack and frozen foods sectors.

Rovema’s application for packaging confectionery, pastries and cookies is the BVC 180 bagging system with integrated weigher and pick & place module. Control of the pick & place module and weigher – which is directly mounted on the vertical bagger – is integrated, resulting in a comprehensive system whose components are operated from one HMI panel.

The BVC 180 vertical bagger is equipped with an integrated metal detector in the weigher frame, as well as Sense & Seal technology, a patented quality control system that determines if product is present in the cross seal area; if product is present, the technology discharges the faulty bags without applying seal pressure.

Good bags are guided directly downward out of the machine, saving space and enabling easy accessibility from the front. The bags are then guided by an infeed belt to the pick & place unit in their proper ‘face-up’ position. They are sucked in by vacuum grippers and positioned in the tray according to a freely configured defined scheme. Since the motion profiles of the delta kinematics are calculated by the vertical bagger control, the pick & place unit is smoothly coupled to the continuously driven infeed and discharge belts. This smooth packaging process is both energy efficient and gentle on both machine and products.

When the machine’s parameters are changed between runs, the pick & place unit automatically adapts its movement profiles, which shortens changeover time. The operator can make changes in the layer schemes or bag format by entering a few parameters, eliminating the need for any robotic programming expertise. Since the same hardware is used throughout, there is no training or additional personnel needed, and the Rovema service team can provide optimum support for the entire solution.

At FachPack, Rovema also will exhibit the BVC 400 VFFS Bagging Machine, a continuous motion, dual axis servo, vertical form-fill-seal machine offering the broad flexibility in product sizes and shapes demanded by the frozen food sector. It is capable of running up to 150 cycles per minute at a maximum forming width of 400mm.

The flexible configurations of the servo-driven, stainless execution, hygienically designed BVC 400 allows for a wide range of frozen food packaging applications, including those for chicken nuggets, french fries, vegetables, dumplings, seafood, and complete meal solutions. This same machine also can be designed for fresh foods with ultrasonic welding requirements.

Another highlight of the BVC 400 VFFS Bagging Machine is its attention to hygienic manufacturing practices. The BVC 400 is comprised primarily of stainless steel for easy cleaning, and features a closed-frame design in which all product contact parts are segregated from non-contact parts. The machine’s slightly offset electrical cabinet is intended to make cleaning easy.
