Section 1: Horizontal Gear Change Procedures
Introduction
These procedures should only be completed by technicians trained by Rovema and follow industry, local, state and federal safety guidelines.
The machine should be LOCKED OUT and TAGGED OUT before performing maintenance operations!
The actual procedure may need to be modified depending on the work being preformed. Such as just replacing a belt or replacing all the gears.
Introduction -Continued
There are gears on both sides of the machine. The Drive side has adjustment while the fixed side does not.
Gear Alignment Bars
The Gear Alignmet Bars will keep the gears aligned, when the jaws are already removed from the machine. They are only needed on the upper shafts.
Do Not Over Tighten the center screw as this could cause the center of the bars to bend slightly and not be completely parallel.
If removing all gears, it is recommended to loosen the below bolts, prior to removing the belts, because the belts help keep the shafts from rotating while loosening the bolts.
